Judge permits California cardrooms to resume blackjack games amid legal challenge

(AsiaGameHub) – San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard Darwin has issued a preliminary injunction, permitting blackjack games to continue amidst an ongoing legal challenge.
US.- San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard Darwin has granted a preliminary injunction, enabling California cardrooms to keep offering blackjack. This decision follows a legal challenge by the California Gaming Association against recently introduced regulations. The injunction imposes a 45-day suspension on rules that took effect April 1, which had mandated cardrooms to stop offering the game by May 31.
Kyle Kirkland, president of the California Gambling Association, stated: “Today’s ruling confirms our long-held position: Attorney General Bonta and the Bureau of Gambling Control overstepped their authority in their attempt to revise California gaming law.”
The California Attorney General’s Office commented: “The court issued a preliminary injunction, and we will respond appropriately in court.”
The subsequent hearing is slated for June 30.
